Sweet & Spooky! Our Favourite Halloween Brownies

Halloween is all about fun, family, and a little bit of spooky magic — and what better way to celebrate than with an afternoon of baking with the kids? These Mummy Brownies are quick, easy, and perfect for little helpers, turning a classic treat into something delightfully Halloween-themed. Not to mention, our Trickier Treats collection is the perfect baking attire!

You will need

For the brownies:

  • 200g dark chocolate, chopped

  • 150g butter

  • 1 cup caster sugar

  • 3 eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¾ cup plain flour

  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder

  • Pinch of salt

For decorating:

  • 150–200g white chocolate melts

  • Candy eyes (2 per brownie)

Brownie Method

1. Preheat your oven to 170°C fan (or 180°C conventional).
Line a 20cm x 20cm square baking tin with baking paper, leaving a little overhang so it’s easy to lift out later.

2. In a microwave-safe bowl, add the dark chocolate and butter.
Heat in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth and melted.

3. Stir in the caster sugar, then whisk in the eggs and vanilla until glossy and smooth.

4. Sift in the flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold together until just combined.

5. Pour the brownie mixture into the prepared tin and smooth the top.
Bake for 20–25 minutes or until the edges are set and the middle is still slightly soft.
Cool completely in the tin before lifting out and cutting into squares.

Decorating the Mummies

1. Place white chocolate melts in a microwave-safe bowl.
Heat in 20-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth.

2. Spoon the melted white chocolate into a small piping bag or a zip-lock bag with a tiny corner cut off.
Pipe zig-zag lines across each brownie to look like mummy bandages.

3. Before the chocolate sets, press two candy eyes onto each brownie.
Let them sit for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate has hardened.

Baking these Mummy Brownies together is a simple way to bring a little Halloween spirit into your home — and one your kids will love decorating. Pair your spooky treats with our Trickier Treats pyjamas, and your favourite Halloween movie for a cosy night in. Whether you’re making them for school lunchboxes, a party, or just because, these brownies are a sweet way to make Halloween magical.
